Skill Orbs

Skill Orbs are special items. These items can increase
a variety of skill and miscellaneous item features. However, only one orb
can be active on a character at any one time. Furthermore, there are three versions for each
orb described below - one for each difficulty setting in the game.

These unique items are activated when you have accumulated enough soulshards from fallen foe.
When a monster perishes, there is a small chance it will drop a soulshard.
These shards can be accumlated in your Lesser Horadric Cube. Once you have
accumulated enough shards, the required amount of shards can be transfered to a
defunct skill orb of your choice.

The number of shards required to activate an orb depends on the
difficulty setting of the orb you want activated. While the number of
shards required to activate an orb gets higher with difficulty, so does the
power of the orb.

Once the orb is activated, you require a special jewel that
drops from an optional area in the game. Place both the jewel and the
activated orb in your Horadric Cube and transmute the two items.
You will be rewarded with a socketable jewel that has the special
modifiers you seek. Insert the jewel into any item of your choice and enoy!
